‘A value chain is a set of activities that an organization performs in order to create and deliver a valuable product or service to its customers’. This paper mainly treats the value chain, this is: including (and starting from) customer demand and the related upstream activities. But we will limit the scope to physical products, i.e. excluding value chains purely meant for services.
